Two minutes’ walk from the shores of Lake Constance, in the centre of Überlingen’s historic old town, there’s now Urban Jungle. A café concept without the frills and bling – but 100% real. The first impression is intoxicating. Green! Hanging hanging baskets and lush ferns as far as the eye can see.
Handicraft lamps dangle on long ropes from the four-metre-high ceiling and bathe the jungle in dim light. The sounds of nature resonate softly from the loudspeakers. The smell of coffee fills the air. These vibes make many people spontaneously change their minds: Not to go, but to stay!
No wonder. The labyrinthine old building exudes cosiness. We have bravely left the odd crooked wall. Warm natural materials characterise the atmosphere. Natural wood from local spruce can be found in the furniture and the rustic wall panelling.
The loose furnishings combined with customised tables and benches from the in-house manufactory offer well thought-out seating for couples, groups and individuals. The centrepiece is the tiled café bar with kitchen.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the bar, take the narrow, old wooden staircase to the cosy mezzanine. A further 15 seats and alcoves await here. The seating niches by the windows are particularly popular.
