With “Saturn Connect”, Saturn introduces a market innovation that’s all about digital lifestyle products and services: in busy inner-city locations, the 300 to 500 square metre Saturn Connect markets introduce lifestyle products in an interactive ambience, and offer extensive advice and services.
We supported Saturn Connect in the development of the store furnishings. Based on existing drafts, we designed the details of and produced the counters, checkout desks, wall highlights and fittings. In the process, we created a new modular and electrically controlled wall of shelves. Thanks to a flexible support structure, the horizontal goods rail can be adjusted in steps of 10 cm.
The Saturn Connect store in Cologne was awarded the title STORE OF THE YEAR 2016 in the category “Out of Line” by the German trade association. The jury praised the purist architecture that reflects the technical concept. What is more, the store at Schildergasse in Cologne is a perfect example of the digitisation in physical retail. There are a number of screens in the store that help the assistants explain the products to the customers, which is another factor that influenced the jury’s decision.
