Clean and inviting at the same time. Functional and well thought-out, but with warmth and charisma: in Feldkirch, the Vorarlberg multi-brand chain MAXUNDSTELLA has realised its vision of contemporary stationary retail. Here, shopping with an international flair meets community
experience with links to the region and Austria’s nature.

How does that work? With us! ‘The client wanted a completely flexible concept that would meet international requirements and – most importantly – facilitate encounters,’ says Ramona Uhl, our interior designer specialising in retail.

Creating experiences, bringing people together, offering customers a reason to linger without necessarily having to buy anything – these goals are the cornerstones of the concept.

The centrepiece is a seven-metre-long bar

The centrepiece of the store is therefore a seven-metre-long bar as a community point that connects the men’s and women’s areas. That’s right – seven metres. An espresso before looking for a new handbag? Sure. An evening wine tasting with a view of the new collections. Oh YES! A refreshment in between, just like that? Of course.

In the three stores to date, MAXUNDSTELLA has had good experiences with providing customers with a coffee machine, says Chris Zorn, our retail expert and Sales Manager. The small coffee corner has now become a seven-metre bar. With refrigerated drawers and everything you need to transform the store into an event location.

Furniture with maximum flexibility

Another important requirement was therefore maximum flexibility and mobile furniture that always creates the necessary space. ‘So that you could theoretically also organise a yoga event,’ says MAXUNDSTELLA Managing Director Christoph Riedlsperger.

The furniture in the centre of the room is particularly flexible and, with its many possibilities, is reminded of the cult game Tetris. The difference is that the furniture is moved to fit precisely, not blocks. ‘A fixed star to which everything is centred,’ says Christian.

Reference to nature in Vorarlberg

The new store also reflects the owners’ affinity for design and functionality, as well as their home region of Vorarlberg: earthy natural tones, warm oak parquet flooring and natural materials characterise the image, while a stone wallpaper serves as a reminder of Austria’s mountains.

Anyone still wondering why the stores are called MAXUNDSTELLA of all things: these are the names of the children of managing directors Desiree Schramm-Riedlsperger and Christoph Riedlsperger
