The world’s first Marc O’Polo concept store was opened: the Strandcasino in the seaside resort of Heringsdorf. The building on the Baltic Sea coast dates from 1897 and already housed several shops and a large function room back then. This idea has now been picked up by Marc O’Polo to combine casual fashion and a modern lifestyle with a smart catering concept in a spacious environment.
The urban style of furnishing which characterises all Marc O’Polo stores is inspired by the atmosphere of a Swedish flat in an old building. In recent years, this idea has been further developed. Significant features of a loft apartment have been integrated providing more light and a feeling of openness to the interior. The store concept stands out with its natural materials and low energy consumption, setting standards in terms of sustainability. The Marc O’Polo Strandcasino combines the inspiration of the Baltic Sea with the brand’s Swedish origin. A seaside atmosphere with Scandinavian influences. The latest collection is enhanced by selected third-party brands and seasonal highlights which are presented in the Greenhouse, a changing pop-up area with exciting new products.
For the Strandcasino, the fashion brand from Stephanskirchen in Bavaria has taken two experienced partners on board: the concept store is run by Pier 14, a long-standing franchise partner, and the catering service is provided by the Michelin star chef Tom Wickboldt. He is responsible for two restaurants – the restaurant O’NE offers a re-interpreted, regional cuisine and the exclusive restaurant THE O’ROOM offers a modern, more globally inspired gourmet cuisine – and the wine bar VINO’ where professional wine tasting sessions are held. The catering concept is rounded off by the premium food shop O’DELI.
The Strandcasino has a total area of 1050 sqm, with the large sun terrace taking up 300 sqm alone. It has been designed by the Berlin agency dan pearlman. We have been responsible for the general contractor’s construction documentation, managing the entire shop fitting process and developing a few pieces of furniture which are used to furnish the Strandcasino and are offered for sale: a dining room chair, a lounge chair and a bar stool.
