Expanding a fashion shop sustainably? At first, that sounds like shop fittings with a re-used look. But it doesn’t have to be! The example of Mode Garhammer shows that shopfitting systems can be sustainable and aesthetic at the same time. ‘The shopfitting was based on our WBA approach: Less. Better. Different. We used our internal guidelines to evaluate the project with the aim of making it as sustainable as possible,’ explains Project Manager Steffen Ortlieb.
See, try and be amazed. Waldkirchen now has Bavaria’s largest shoe and bag department. The range extends over two floors. On 800 square metres, there is a selection that is otherwise only found in the online shop. Is there such a large shop on the border with the Czech Republic and Austria that is flourishing? Yes, very much so. Customers are even travelling from Munich to stock up on high-quality goods. And the new shop fittings ensure that it stays that way! The reason: there is a feel-good atmosphere with perfect service that is unrivalled in the retail sector.
The project was the result of a great collaboration: the design came from our partner blocher partners, a Stuttgart-based office for transdisciplinary architecture, and the shop fittings came from us. But what do you have to look out for when it comes to shop fittings for shoes and bags?
‘When presenting goods, the lighting is the most important factor. Especially the light colour. We’ve tinkered back and forth here and tried out new spotlights,’ explains Steffen. In order to present the entire range of shoes, bags and textiles in all colours in a ‘neutral’ way, a light similar to daylight is required. The requirements for the lighting concept were correspondingly high.
The lighting concept specially developed for the shop consists of a variety of spotlights and tubes – lighting tracks are even integrated into the shelving system. The lighting and the shopfitting systems in the rear walls were supplied by roomly.
In addition to all the technology, the look of the shop and its shop fittings also have to match. And that is all WBA (less, better, different). We have therefore avoided unnecessary materials, such as wood, produced locally and worked with local companies to keep the carbon footprint low. And, of course, we have used as many sustainable materials as possible for the shop fittings: From stone and wood to recycled leather.
Whether it’s sustainable shopfitting systems and shop fittings, pop-up concepts, conversion of shop space or complete shops or even just a stylish sales counter: we are constantly developing and producing new concepts in shopfitting, shop fittings and product presentation. Our customers come from various sectors – many from the retail, textile and clothing industries. These include not only retailers with fashion stores and boutiques, but also larger chains with several locations, for example.
