As a child, our customer used to play in the barn and hide in the hay. He still wants to play in it today – just in a different way.
We realised this dream and converted our customer’s old barn into a private bar. “Huberts” – named after his favourite uncle.
… that’s what our customer’s heart beats for. As soon as you enter the barn, an outdoor lounge invites you to enjoy a glass of wine under the starry sky. Once inside, you are no longer standing on rough, dusty floorboards, but on high-quality oak parquet.
The bar is enthroned under the gable. Above it hovers a multi-storey brass shelf that dissolves into nothingness at the top. Mysteriously swallowed up: the ceiling height is barely recognisable through the black Heraklit panels and seems like the eternal expanse of space.
In addition to the mystical effect, the panels also ensure pleasant room acoustics.
Behind the bar, a staircase leads down to the fire lounge. Here, the view falls directly onto the rotating circular stove, which hangs from a six metre high pipe from the high ceiling.
Socialising takes place opposite at the long table with upholstered seating. A fine drop from the wine wall is always to hand. And it really packs a punch.
Designed as an apothecary cabinet, more wines are concealed behind the front. Incidentally, the wood used for this piece of furniture already had Hubert’s identity. It came from a demolished farmhouse.
Once again, a very special place has been created. Even something as ordinary as an old barn where hay has been stored for years can be transformed into something magical. You just have to have an eye for it.
And that’s what we think: behind Hubert’s is a concept that can also be transferred to hotels and restaurants.
